Motyka Dannin Osteopathic Educational Foundation

The Motyka Dannin Osteopathic Educational Foundation, Inc. (Motyka Dannin Foundation) was formed at the initiative of the Indiana Osteopathic Association to raise and distribute funds primary in support of osteopathic medicine. This includes scholarships, grants for research, seminars, and similar programs. Scholarships are provided in the form of forgivable loans.

Forgivable Loan Program:

1. Scope: Initially the Motyka Dannin Foundation intends to offer a forgivable loan of up to $10,000 each year to an osteopathic medical student selected by the Board of Directors of the Foundation. As the Foundation receives more donations, the Foundation hopes to be able to offer multiple forgivable loans.

2. Qualifications for a Forgivable Loan: a. Be an Indiana resident who is attending an osteopathic medical school in the United States or a student of the Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine. b. Be a member of the Indiana Osteopathic Association; c. Be enrolled as a second or third year medical student in good standing; d. Present two letters of recommendation; e. Submit an application that includes an essay and list of accomplishments; f. Intend to practice in Indiana following completion of a residency in family medicine, osteopathic manipulative medicine, general internal medicine, general surgery, psychiatry, general pediatrics, or obstetrics and gynecology (OBGYN) for not less than 24 months.

3. Forgivable Loan Agreement: The student selected for the forgivable loan shall be required to practice family medicine, osteopathic manipulative medicine, general internal medicine, general surgery, psychiatry, general pediatrics, or obstetrics and gynecology (OBGYN) in Indiana for not less than 24 months (“Commitment Period”). In the event the student fails to complete the commitment period, the student shall be required to make full repayment of the Forgivable Loan.
