Southern Medical Association Alliance Scholarships
The Southern Medical Association Alliance “Society of 1924 Medical Student Scholarship” and the Southern Medical Association “Society of 1906 Scholarship” for 2017 will EACH provide financial assistance in the form of a $2,000 scholarship for tuition or other required expenses to a 3rd year medical student who exhibits both academic and leadership qualities in need of financial aid. The scholarships are for medical students entering their 3rd year in the fall.
Established in 2011 by the Southern Medical Association Alliance, the Society of 1924’s purpose is to enhance ongoing efforts in the support of the Southern Medical Association Research and Education Endowment Fund, enabling continued investment for its members in the future of medical and healthcare delivery by providing scholarships for medical students. The Society of 1924 works in partnership with the Southern Medical Association’s Research and Education Endowment Fund which was established in 1986 to provide funding for scholarships, research projects and other programs supporting the educational purposes of the Association. The Society of 1906 was established to recognize major contributors to the Research and Education Endowment Fund. Scholarships are awarded annually to third-year medical students, particularly those of superior abilities with a financial need.
